The Life of a Beast

A few of things to know: Cedemones is pronounced sediments minus the t; Mutea is mu as in muck, tea as in tia; Cresa is crest minus the t and add an uh. Also a beast is not born they are created and do what their creator made them to do. Cedemones was created to be five years old. This story is set in the fairy realm so some things are a little different then our life. Anyways here is the story hope you enjoy it.

                                                                                                     The Life of a Beast

Another day passes in this dark abyss. I can't tell the difference between night and day nor can I move. My body has been bound by heavy iron chains. Maybe I'll just rot here, it's what I deserve.
When I was born I was created for one purpose. Destruction. My father was tired of how things had become and he demanded change. He felt the Queen's rules too much, too controlling. He thought it was his turn to rule and so he created me. My first task was to destroy the Centre; the place of beginning. As I went to the city I blacked out and before I knew it everything was destroyed. There was fire, blood, and corpses everywhere. Children were crying; I couldn't bring myself to kill them I felt like I was the same as them. All of them were screaming, all but one. He looked maybe seven years old, only two years older than me. His skin was pale and everything I saw of him was blue. He looked like ice and there was a cold chill about him.
"You killed my parents. What are you?" he spoke calmly.
"I… I'm a beast." I hesitantly told him.
"That means you're strong, aggressive, and have a heart of fire right?"
"Yes." Its true beasts are said to have a heart of fire because they are both hot-headed and warm to the touch. He gripped my hand. His body was cold as ice and his touch stung. It then felt like he was inside my head, like he was reading my thoughts. He now knew everything about me.
"You're powerful; everywhere you go will face destruction. Please allow me to follow you. My name is Zero and I want to serve you and make you my lord."
I agreed. This was another child like me who craved destruction. He would serve me well and become my right hand man. Just as we agreed to work together the Queen showed up and enveloped me in light.
"You, Beast have brought ruin to this city! I shall imprison you in a place where you can do no harm, your very own stone!" she yelled as I felt myself being pulled apart. My stone, this was the vessel of my power and was now my prison.
I've been here for what seems like decades. Unable to move. Unable to see. But lately this place has been getting brighter. I've seen a girl and sometimes she talks to me begging me to leave this place. It's bright enough now I can see everything clearly and I'm able to see what she does but with no sound.
"Ah!"
Suddenly the light becomes blinding. I feel the chains release, The light dims and I'm standing in a forest. That same girl I've been seeing stands in front of me.
"Cedemones, you're here! I've been waiting so long. The fairies call me Mutea. It's so nice to meet you."
The fairies call me? What's that supposed to mean? We're all fairies aren't we, maybe she's something different.
"The fairies call you? Hrmph! Then what are you?" I questioned.
"I'm a human." she stated so matter of factly.
A human? Absurd, humans are not allowed in this realm. She must be crazy.
"You still look confused. It was Sage who brought me here."
"Queen Sage!?" That name. Just the sound of it infuriated me. I slammed her against a nearby tree. This devil of a girl has been plotting with the Queen. She needed to be punished.
"It's you who's kept me trapped in that cursed stone! I'll kill you for what you've done to me."
I extended my claws and went for her neck. Then I stopped, My hand was burning it had been turned to ice.
"Wait Milord!"
I turned sharply and there starring at me was a familiar face. It was Zero, but he was different somehow.
"Milord this girl is our friend the Queen lied to her and tried to get her to kill you. This girl saved you."
This boy who cared for no one but me was protecting this girl, this human. It couldn't be the same boy I knew.
"Zero, what happened? Why are you defending a human!?"
"Milord it's been four years. Things have changed. This girl has helped me learn to care for people and things. Give her a chance. She can help you too."
I wasn't about to let her change me. But I decided to play along.
"Fine, she can try but she won't succeed. Let her try to teach me."
And she did. Five more years past. Through that time she taught me many things. Over time I realized this girl wasn't so bad. She was kind, gentle, and pretty. When I did something wrong she stopped me and helped me fix it. I soon realized I really loved her. She was the one I wanted to spend my life with.
"Mutea, Will you marry me someday?" This question seemed to confuse her.
"Marry you? I'm only thirteen I can't decide that now. Besides you're a fairy, I'm a human we can't be together."
"But don't you feel it? You're the one I'm destined to be with." For fairies once we find the one we love most we know they are our one. The one we will be with forever, it's rare to be wrong about our choice.
"Cedemones, humans don't work that way. We take time to find the one we want to marry and even then it often doesn't work out. Not only that but I can't live here, I can only visit. I'm sorry."
"Then I'll find a way to get you to be able to stay here or I'll find a way to live in your realm."
"No, that won't work. You can try but there is no way to do it. You need to find someone else." Someone else But I want her. I could never love someone as much as her.
Later that night I went to a ball I was forced to attend. Being a prince was really a bother sometimes. I kept thinking about what Mutea had said. It made me sad but I couldn't get it out of my mind.
"Hello, you're Cedemones right? My name is Cresa, I've been wanting to meet you. I've heard so much about you."
"Why would you want to meet me? Everyone hates me for what I did."
"I don't, that was a long time ago. I heard you were nice now. Is that wrong?"
Was it? No, I guess I had changed. Mutea had changed me just as Zero had said she would.
"This is kind of embarrassing but I've grown to really like you. Would you dance with me?"
"Uh… Yeah sure." I had never expected to hear someone say that to me, I was shocked. I danced with her for many songs and we talked all night. I met with her for many days. We had grown very close.
"You know what Cedemones? I think you're my one!" she smiled at me.
Her one? I had considered this myself but I still loved Mutea. I brought it up later that day when Mutea came over.
"Cedemones, that's wonderful! Do you feel the same way about her?" I pondered the question for a while.
"Yes, I think I do."
"Then she really is the one for you." She grabbed me tightly and gave me a hug. I loved it when she did that and I didn't want to let my feelings for her go, I couldn't. But as the years past I started spending more time with Cresa. Mutea had become older and it was getting hard for her to come and visit.
"Cedemones. I can't come here anymore."
"Why Mutea?"
"Because I'm nineteen. I can barely see this place anymore, it's all becoming black." When humans get too old they can no longer see us or this realm. It was her time; we had to part ways today.
"Before I leave I want you to promise me something. Promise me you'll marry Cresa, she is the one for you."
"I will." And then she was gone. She had faded away. Tears began pouring out of my eyes and my heart began to break. I would miss her, she had come to see me everyday for eleven years. I would never forget her.
I few days later I kept my promise. I married Cresa. These two simple words began the rest of my life and was the hardest thing for me to say, but I was happy.
"I do."
